Ingredients

For the ham
  • 2 ham steaks 8 to 10 oz each, 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick
  • pineapple rings optional
  • cooking spray
For the pineapple glaze
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • red pepper flakes a pinch

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Small saucepan
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Simmer the glaze ingredients 4 to 6 minutes until syrupy.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F. Pat the ham steaks dry, spritz with oil, and cook 4 minutes.
  3. Brush with glaze, flip, brush again, and cook 4 to 8 minutes more, glazing once more, until glossy and caramelised at the edges. Air fry the pineapple rings alongside for the last 4 minutes if using.
  4. Spoon the remaining glaze over.

Notes

You're reheating and glazing, not cooking from raw.
Reduce the glaze first so it clings rather than runs off.
Salty ham? Skip added salt and lean on the vinegar.
