Ingredients

  • 1-1.5 lb asparagus medium thickness, woody ends snapped off
  • 1.5 tbsp olive or avocado oil
  • 1-1.5 tsp lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt less if the lemon pepper is salted
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 lemon zested, plus 1 to 2 tsp juice
  • grated Parmesan, red pepper flakes, or toasted almonds optional

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Large bowl

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F for 3 minutes. Toss the asparagus with the oil, lemon pepper, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Arrange in a single layer, slight overlap fine, and cook 6 to 8 minutes, shaking once.
  3. Add the lemon zest and juice, taste, and adjust. Shower with Parmesan in the last minute if using.

Notes

Match the spear thickness so they finish together; thick spears need 8 minutes.
Don't mound them — a single layer crisps, a pile steams.
Snap, don't cut, the woody ends — the beans break where they turn tender.
