Air Fryer Comeback Sauce - A Tangy, Creamy Dip For Everything

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (full-fat gives the best texture)
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (or yellow mustard for a milder flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (Frank’s, Crystal, or your favorite)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1–2 teaspoons lemon juice (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (regular paprika works, but smoked adds depth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or sugar; adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt, to taste
  • Optional: 1–2 teaspoons pickle juice for extra tang, or a pinch of cayenne for heat

Method

  1. Gather and measure. Set out all ingredients. This helps you tweak seasoning as you go and prevents over-pouring.
  2. Mix the base. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise and sour cream (or Greek yogurt) until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the flavor builders. Whisk in the ketchup, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until fully combined.
  4. Season it up. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and a small pinch of salt. Stir well.
  5. Brighten and balance. Add lemon juice and honey. Taste and adjust—more lemon for tang, more honey for balance, more hot sauce for heat.
  6. Optional boost. Stir in pickle juice or a pinch of cayenne if you want extra zing or spice.
  7. Rest for flavor. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This lets the flavors blend and the sauce thicken slightly.
  8. Serve with air-fried favorites. Use as a dip for fries, chicken tenders, wings, onion rings, Brussels sprouts, or crunchy tofu. It’s also great as a spread on sandwiches or burgers.
  9. Adjust before serving. After chilling, give it a stir and taste again. Chilled sauces can mellow; add a splash of lemon or hot sauce if needed.
