Ingredients

  • 1 lb skinless salmon cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt
  • lemon wedges to serve

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paper towels

Method

  1. Pat the cubes dry, toss with the oil, then coat evenly in the combined spices.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (205°C) for 3 minutes.
  3. Arrange in a single layer and cook 7 to 9 minutes, flipping halfway, until the crust is dark and the salmon flakes.
  4. Squeeze lemon over and serve.

Notes

Cut the cayenne to 1/4 tsp for a milder crust; the paprika carries the colour either way.
Real blackening needs heat: 400°F and a full preheat.
