Air Fryer Bagel Chips - Crunchy, Quick, and Perfect for Snacking

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 plain or everything bagels (day-old works best)
  • 2–3 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter for a richer taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning (optional, great on plain bagels)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional sweet version: 2 tablespoons melted butter + 1 tablespoon sugar + 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Method

  1. Prep the bagels: Slice each bagel in half horizontally, then cut each half into thin chips about 1/8–1/4 inch thick. Thinner slices mean crisper chips.
  2. Preheat the air fryer: Set to 325°F (163°C). A slightly lower temp helps prevent burning while giving the chips time to dry out.
  3. Toss with oil and seasoning: In a large bowl, add the slices and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle in salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper (or use everything seasoning). Toss until every piece is lightly coated.
  4. Arrange in the basket: Place the slices in a single layer. It’s okay if a few overlap, but avoid crowding so air can circulate.
  5. Air fry in batches: Cook for 6–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway. Chips should turn golden and feel crisp. Thicker slices may need another 1–2 minutes.
  6. Cool completely: Transfer chips to a cooling rack. They’ll crisp even more as they cool, so don’t judge doneness while they’re still hot.
  7. Season to finish (optional): While warm, add a final pinch of salt or extra everything seasoning for more pop.
  8. For a sweet version: Toss with melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon instead of savory seasonings. Air fry at 320–325°F for 6–8 minutes, watching closely to prevent sugar from burning.
